Quintin O’Connell racked up five goals and one assist, and the New Canaan Rams scored early and often during a 12-4 victory over the St. Joseph Cadets Saturday at Dunning Field.
The Rams, who evened their season mark at 4-4, led 6-2 after one quarter and 9-2 at halftime on the way to the win.
O’Connell’s performance was the highlight on offense, with goalie Carl Mazabras starring on defense, as he made eight saves to hold off the Cadets.
Liam Griffiths had a hat trick, while Teddy Manges, Callum Wood, Kyle Russell and Ryan Caione each scored once. Chris Canet had a pair of assists, and Luke Nolan made one stop.
For St. Joseph (4-3), Declan McGinley scored twice, Ryan Daly and Preston Kral had a goal apiece, and goalie Kyle Burbank collected nine saves.
The Rams are unbeaten in FCIAC play at 4-0, as all four of their losses have come to out-of-conference teams. New Canaan has knocked off Wilton, Warde, Norwalk and St. Joe’s in the FCIAC, and will play at Danbury on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
The Rams will host a perennial conference contender on Thursday when they face the Greenwich Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. at Dunning Field.
