New Canaan-Greenwich football final moved to 10 a.m. Saturday at Boyle Stadium

The New Canaan Rams and Greenwich Cardinals will play for the CIAC Class LL football championship at Boyle Stadium in Stamford Saturday, Dec. 8, at 10 a.m. The game had been scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Shelton High. The Class M final between No. 1 St. Joe’s and No. 3 Berlin originally scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday in Shelton has been moved to 2 p.m., but remains at Finn Stadium.
The CIAC announced its schedule for the state finals on Tuesday morning, the announced the change in the New Canaan-Greenwich game around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
No. 8 New Canaan (10-2) will be facing No. 2 Greenwich (12-0) for the second time this season. The Cards won the first meeting, 42-14, at Dunning Field on Oct. 6.
New Canaan will be playing in its 11th state final during the past 13 years, having won the state championship eight times in that span. The Rams last won in 2016, finishing a run of four straight championships.
Greenwich is 24-1 over the past two seasons and is in the Class LL final for the second consecutive season. Last year, the Cards lost to Darien, 31-22.
New Canaan reached the final by beating No. 1 Shelton 42-34, and No. 5 Fairfield Prep 38-7 in the first two rounds, while Greenwich beat No. 7 New Britain 49-3, and No. 3 Newtown 50-0.
