Rams by the Numbers: Soccer stunner, volleyball clincher, and a star Eagle

New Canaan girls soccer is the hottest team in the FCIAC and this week’s Rams by the Numbers takes a look at some of the great stats and results they’ve been putting up the past two weeks.
From the soccer pitch, we then head to the volleyball court and the cross country course, before taking a look at a huge game for Zach Allen, a star Eagle with the Boston College football team.
Record of the New Canaan girls soccer team, which has propelled itself into the upper echelon of the FCIAC standings with wins over Darien, Ridgefield and Trumbull during the past 10 days. The Rams are in fourth place in the standings, but own the head-to-head tiebreaker over Ridgefield and could move up.
Goal scored against Ridgefield this season during the Tigers’ 1-0 loss to New Canaan Saturday at Dunning Field. Sophomore Emma Schuh scored the goal with an assist from freshman Kaleigh Harden in the 26th minute.
Goals allowed in 13 games by the New Canaan girls soccer defense. The Rams’ D has not allowed a goal in the past eight games, with New Canaan going 7-0-1.
Score of the Rams’ win over Trumbull in girls soccer Monday at Dunning Field. Dillyn Patten scored twice, and Kendall Patten, Emma Schuh, Katherine Lisecky, and Katelyn Sparks each scored once.
Wins for the New Canaan volleyball team, which secured a state tournament berth in a 3-1 win over Brien McMahon last Friday. The Rams trailed 14-4 in the third set, but roared back to win the frame and took the decision 25-19, 22-25, 25-23, and 25-21.
Assists for New Canaan senior co-captain Emma Wheeler in the victory over McMahon. Wheeler, who helped spark the Rams when the chips were down in the third set, also had 14 digs, five aces, and three kills.
Record of the Rams’ girls cross country team, which won the FCIAC’s Eastern Division championship, finishing one spot ahead of rival Darien (9-6). New Canaan’s Waveny Park will host the FCIAC cross country championships on Thursday afternoon.
Tackles for Zach Allen, who helped the Boston College Eagles defeat Louisville, 38-20, Saturday at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Allen had a big day, also collecting one sack and three tackles for a loss.
Tackles for a loss this season for Zach Allen, a number which leads the Boston College football team. The NCHS graduate also has 36 total tackles, 4.5 sacks and an interception.
